About
My mom was a Southern Baptist choir leader, my dad was a drummer and classic rock DJ. Growing up on the sounds of gospel, mixed with British classic rock, my tastes became eclectic to say the least.
I developed a deep love of Chicago House at an early age, then branched that into 80′s and 90′s Synth-pop and Industrial. It always amazed me how electronic music pushed the boundaries, yet still managed to never forget its past.
At 15, I mixed my first two records. They were, by today’s standards, old school Jungle tracks and I can only wish that I could remember what they were. But that was the beginning of what has become a 17+ year journey behind the turntables.
Using today’s technology, I strive to take my audience through a musical trip that encompasses both memory lane and a bit of foreshadowing as well. Nothing can ever replace the feel of vinyl for me, and so I use digital vinyl systems (Traktor Scratch Pro being the current addiction) to replicate the feel while still allowing me an ease of use with digital mediums.
Layered effects, jazzy horns and pounding bass all come into play in a typical set. But don’t let that description fool you. I’ve been known to drop in some off-the-wall content as well. So put in your earplugs, grab your hoodie and let’s throw some elbows.
